A Little History...

Formed in April 1995, the Meadow Vista Trails Association (MVTA) is a membership-based organization dedicated to the establishment, improvement, and maintenance of walking, biking, and equestrian trails within Meadow Vista and the neighboring communities of Christian Valley, Clipper Gap, Colfax, Applegate, and Weimar.

For years, trails have been used throughout our community. In 1974, Placer County adopted a community plan for Meadow Vista which described the existence of these walking, biking and horse trails within the area. The plan also urged the creation of an integrated trail system that would allow people to travel within and between Meadow Vista, Christian Valley and surrounding communities.

With population growth and development, public access to many of these trails has been limited. In other instances trails which do remain open for public use had become unusable due to the lack of maintenance, soil erosion, and the growth of vegetation.

It is well known, however, that trails help to retain the rural quality of our community, provide a safe means of travel, and improve local land values.

In the fall of 1995, a new community plan for Meadow Vista was adopted. With a renewed interest by many community residents to make the trail system a reality, the MVTA was formed.
